Autobiography
EJ Kwandibens​

EJ Kwandibens is a member of the loon clan and is of Ojibway descent from the Whitesand First Nation community located 21 hours north of Toronto; presently resides in Toronto.

​​EJ is a northern style traditional and grass dancer for approximately 35 years. EJ has designed and constructed Aboriginal traditional apparel for approximately 30+ years as a self taught artist. EJ credits his creative skills to his mother Elsie Kwandibens who is a well respected Northern Woodland Ojibway Elder from the Waabiidaangaah (Whitesand First Nation) community. Elsie taught her son the ole ways of learning which was through observation and oral teachings.

​​EJ has travelled across North America learning and attending traditional ceremonies since he was 8 years old. His traditional elders and mentors have provided him a strong foundation which has been influential in EJ's daily lifestyle; both personally and professionally. Ej Kwandibens is the sole custodial parent raising his 15 year old daughter since the age of 1 year old.

Professionally, EJ has attained 25+ years of direct service within the Human Services field and 7 years in the Health & Fitness field. EJ has worked within all streams of Social work which include: Education, Corrections, Social Services, Child Welfare, Mental Health and Advocacy. EJ is also a Cultural Educator and a trained facilitator. EJ enjoys public speaking engagements while creating opportunities for information sharing. Ej's facilitation style is influenced by Northern Woodland Ojibway philosophies and ways of being. 

​​EJ is the Founder of Miino-Ayah-Dah Fitness & Nutrition Solutions. Ej has focussed his efforts for the past 7 years as a Health Educator providing personal training and nutritionist services within the GTA Aboriginal community. He is also the Chair President of the 2 Spirits organization within Toronto for the past 5 years.

January 2015, EJ has launched a New Project: Miino-Ayah-Dah Cultural Studio situated in Toronto East End (Dawes Road / Danforth). This service provides the opportunity to the Aboriginal community and Aboriginal Arts community to access community based cultural programs intended to educate community members on the aboriginal traditional ceremonies, teachings based on the northern woodland Ojibway philosophies. Further, to provide the link to new and young Aboriginal artist struggling with accessibility to affordable work studios.
